The first qualification round of "Aoyuan Plaza·Stage of Splendor" talent competition started in 30 March and will carry on for about four months. At 2pm every Saturday the competition will be held on 1/F Atrium of Aoyuan Plaza; a total of 9 weekly competitions and 3 monthly competitions will be held and the final competition will be held in early July.

In the first qualification round held on 30 March, leading the judge panel was singing teacher Dong Jianli, who is a famous young musician, composer and also a member of the judge panel in Shenzhen competition zone of the "China" s Strongest Voice" competition produced by Hunan Satellite TV. Dong" s key works include household tunes such as Ji Xiang Ru Yi (the legend of the phoenix), Kang Ding Qing Yuan and Tao Zhi Yao Yao (sung by Chen Ming). The competition used a format combining live audience voting and judge assessment. Other panel members included renowned singer and national first-class actress Zou Yoncui, as well as professors and teachers from Xinghai Music School, Music and Dance School of Guangzhou University and Art School of Guangdong Foreign Language and Trade Universitywho will serve as artistic directors and members of the judge panel in the monthly and final competitions.

This competition features modern performances in a free-style format that accepts individuals and group participants, such as performing groups, family groups and teams. Candidates stand a chance to win big cash rewards. Currently, nearly 100 candidates from various art schools, communities, schools and children" s institutions have submitted their applications, while children from art institutions in Panyu Pingchuan, Yujie and Meina will become guest performers to display their wonderful talents. The candidates believe that the competition is very attractive and full of artistic appeal. In this competition, there will be interaction with the live audience which allows the audience to vote for their favorites and get a chance to win a host of prizes. This form of interaction will further enhance participation level and achieve greater results for the competition. 

After a heated competition in the weekly event, the winner, runner-up and second runner-up as well as honorable mentions for the first weekly event were decided, and those who would go through to monthly competition received certificates and prize monies at the scene. The selected candidates were all delighted with joy and pride, as they gathered on the Stage of Splendor to take photos. Huang Haiming, a candidate from the Department of Vocal Studies of Huanan Normal University, said that, "I learned about the "Aoyuan Plaza·Stage of Splendor"  competition from the event poster and submitted application immediately. I would like to thank "Aoyuan Plaza·Stage of Splendor" for giving me a dream theater to exhibit my musical talents, and I am confident to continue pursuing my dream."
